Frequently Asked Questions
We know moving can be stressful, and you may have a lot of questions. This list has been compiled from customer questions and includes some of the tips we feel are most important!

Like most movers, we charge by the hour, which means the total cost of your move is based on how long the move takes. While this can also be hard to guess, we have a some general estimates here under “the timing” you can view to get a general idea.
Variables such as weather, stairs or elevators, and walking distance all play a big role in how quickly we can perform the move. To ensure your move is efficient, be sure to have your boxes packed and ready to go. Keep in mind that if you disassemble beds and other furniture, it will save you time and money. Of course, we’re happy to take care of that, too. We’ll do everything we can to complete your move within a reasonable amount of time.
If you have a specific move date in mind, we recommend that you book 1-2 weeks in advance. This is especially true if you are moving near the end of the month or during the summer months, which are our busiest times.
We require a deposit upon reserving your move that is equal to the minimum charges. The deposit can be made with any major credit or debit card. The final balance is paid at the end of your move in the form of cash or with the credit/debit card that you put on file
Our moving trucks are 24′ trucks. On average, we expect that we can fit the contents of a home 1,500 – 1,800 sqft. However, this depends on quite a few factors. The main variables are how many items you have and how many non-stackable items there are (such as exercise machines, fragile furniture, fragile boxes, yard furniture/tools etc.). Sometimes more than one trip will be needed, but here are some tips to increase the chances of making the move in one trip:
- Pack everything that fits into a box into a box, including your pictures, mirrors, TVs, lamps and lampshades. The more things are square and protected, the easier they will be for us to stack in the truck.
- Use professional moving boxes if possible. Using open-topped boxes or odd-shaped boxes will make it harder to stack in the truck.
- Try to group fragile items into the same box to reduce the number of fragile-marked boxes in your move. A move with lots of fragile boxes makes it difficult for our movers to create the base needed to stack your fragile items on top of.
- Take items apart that can be taken apart or ask the movers to do so for you. This will save space in the truck.
-
Our trucks and crews are prepared to work in rainy conditions. If it rains on the day of your move, we will offer free rain protection for your furniture. We will put down additional floor coverings to make sure we don’t slip or track mud into your home. If there are periods of strong downpours, we will usually take a break (not on your time) to wait it out, for the safety of our team and your belongings. Keep in mind that we reserve the right to have our guys work in “fair weather conditions”. This simply means that if we feel the weather is unsafe, we may call you the morning of your move to delay the start of your move. Feel free to check in with us the day before or morning of your move if you have any concerns about the weather. Remember, we’re here to keep you informed!
-
Other than pointing us in the right direction, we shouldn’t require your help on moving day (after all, that’s why you hired movers!). However, many of our customers choose to make their move more efficient and cost effective by helping out on moving day. That’s not a problem at all! Fore safety and insurance purposes, customers are not allowed to enter the truck, step on the ramp, or assist the movers in carrying things (like the other end of a couch, for example). But if you just want to move boxes to the side or reassemble your beds, you can definitely help us save you time and money on your move.
-
On smaller jobs, we will typically not take breaks. On longer and/or more physically-demanding jobs, the movers may take breaks. When a break becomes necessary, we’ll let you know ahead of time. At the end of your move, any time taken for breaks will be deducted from the total job hours.
-
No way! We have no extra fees for stairs or elevators (or anything else, really). Just keep in mind that things like stairs, elevators, and long walking distances can take extra time, which may increase the overall cost of your move.
-
This is a common question! It’s usually a good idea to empty the drawers to ensure the furniture is moved more carefully. However, we can often move dressers with light items in the drawers. When the movers arrive they’ll decide if the chest is too heavy to carry with the drawers in and might remove them to be carried separately.
